What is ODD, Types of ODD and his Storage

 ODD (Optical Disk Drive)

It is an advanced technology for data storage. Optical Disk is a disk read and written by laser beam. Optical disk does not need to move access arms and read/write heads, because a laser beam can be moved electronically. For writing data, a laser beam burns tiny cavities into the surface of a disk to mark bits for data. To read the data, a laser beam scans these areas.

There are three types of ODD.

CD storage-        700MB (150MB, 250MB, 350MB, 680MB, 700MB)

DVD storage-      4.7GB (4.7GB, 8.5GB, 9.4GB, 17GB)

 BD storage-       50GB (25GB, 50GB, 100GB)

ROM-   In this type of drive we can read data only.

R-          In this type of drive we can read and write data on blank drive.

RW-      In this type of drive we can read, write and rewrite data.
